A group of 104 elite skydivers from 20 different countries set a new world record by forming a new, physics-defying mid-air parachute on November 22 in Lake Wales, Florida.

The feat was captured in stunning footage that went viral, showing skydivers attaching their parachutes in the air to create a giant star pattern in the sky, breaking the world record for the largest relative canopy working formation (CPW).

The previous world record involving 100 skydivers was set in 2007. This attempt required a serious logistical operation, including 8 aircraft and the cooperation of a wide range of relevant agencies, including air traffic control, according to reports.

Chris Jay, who co-organized the skydiving formation, said three world record judges on site confirmed the group had set the new record. “When we have an event like this, that’s the journey. A lot of people have changed their lifestyle, the way they eat. The way they exercise, the way they sleep. They’re in much better shape than they have been in 10 or 20 years. So, a lot of people claim that’s one of the big things about this event.” WAP News.

Viral shots of the performer’s creatives and accompanying photographers captured the sheer size of the formation, with colorful parachutes strung together to form a giant structure. The event was dubbed Operation VK.

“This Thanksgiving, we give thanks for CRW’s new 104-way world record! To everyone who built this historic formation from the base to the final pier, to the video team and to everyone supporting them on the ground, congratulations. You have created something unforgettable.”

Among the participants was a 60-year-old plumber, Peter Hughes, who described the achievement as “absolutely amazing,” as he put it. Westmoreland Gazette.

“There is a group of 130 of us who have been working on this for many years, focusing on this particular jump for the last three years. Everyone involved [the jump] He’s been through a journey,” he said.
