The heartwarming gesture of a Rapido driver in Bengaluru has garnered praise on social media after a woman shared her experience. Sambhavi Shrivastava took to LinkedIn to share her story, starting with booking a short ride through Rapido in Indiranagar, and accidentally leaving her earbuds behind.
“Friday evening, I took a short Rapido ride in Indiranagar. I barely covered two kilometres, in 10 minutes max, just to meet my brother for dinner after work. Somehow I managed to leave my headphones behind,” she said in the post.
However, within minutes of her journey ending, the woman received a message from the driver via Google Pay, telling her she had left her headphones behind. “He told me that he would keep them safe and asked me when I would be back again. I said Monday, and I completely forgot that it was Diwali,” she added.
“I ended up calling him this morning around 8:30 to tell him I’d be in the office if he was nearby. Half an hour later, he called and said I could come pick them up. Just like that,” she added.
Shrivastava described the incident as a reminder that “the world is not that bad.”
“Jahrul didn’t have to bother. He could have gotten rid of it or sold it. But he chose to return it. It seems like a small thing, but it really reminded me that decency still exists. Rapido – people like Jahrul make your platform and this world a little better.”
Rapido responded to the post, asking to share the trip details so they can thank the driver for his exceptional service. “Thank you for sharing such an intimate experience, Sambhavi. We are happy to hear about Jharul’s honesty and kindness. It is people like him who truly make a difference, and we are proud to have him as a part of the Rapido family. We would like to convey your appreciation to Jharul.”
In another comment, Rapido said: “We are happy to inform you that Captain Jahrul has been rewarded for his kind gesture by returning your earbuds. We really appreciate you bringing this positive experience to our attention, as it aligns with the values we uphold on the Rapido platform. Thank you for participating, and we hope your future trips are just as enjoyable.”
Other social media users also praised the driver for his gesture. “It’s good to see people like this still around,” one user wrote. “This seems unreal,” said another.
A third person commented: “I left my bag in the cab. There was money, my ATM card and my PAN card. The driver called me at 9 pm. I didn’t receive the call initially, but then I thought I would. He told me that I had left my bag, and since he was very far from home, he would not be able to come to return it, but would present it to his nearest police station.”
