A 29-year-old Indian man, who has been living in Abu Dhabi for a year and a half, became a millionaire overnight after winning the biggest lottery jackpot in the UAE. He won a staggering prize of AED 100 million (over Rs 240 crore) in the 23rd Lucky Day draw held last week. Anilkumar Bhola matched all seven numbers in the draw, beating incredible odds of 1 in 88,000, according to Dubai-based Khaleej Times.
In a celebratory video shared by UAE Lottery on X (formerly Twitter), Anil was seen receiving a celebratory check amidst a shower of golden confetti.
He revealed that he bought 12 tickets at once, using the Easy Pick option which automatically creates number combinations. However, one number, 11, was deliberately chosen to honor his mother’s birthday. This historic win makes him the first ever winner of 100 million dirhams in the history of the UAE lottery.

How did Anil Kumar Bhola decide to pick the lucky ticket?
Expressing how lucky he feels to have the first ever biggest prize in UAE lottery history, Anil shared his story behind picking the lucky ticket. “I didn’t do any magic or anything like that, so I just chose Easy Pick… I bought 12 tickets, and the last number is very special. It’s my mom’s birthday,” he was heard saying in a video shared by UAE Lottery.
“I was in shock,” he recalls, describing the moment that changed his life. “I was sitting on the couch, feeling like I had won a prize.”
Anil Kumar Bhola’s future plans for himself and his parents
The young winner said he intends to use the money responsibly. “I was just thinking about how to invest this amount and spend it in the right way. After winning this amount, I felt like I had money. Now, I need to work on my ideas in the right way, and I want to do something big,” he said.
Anil also revealed his plans to bring his parents to the UAE, buy a supercar, and celebrate his success at a 7-star resort. He said in the video: “I have a dream of buying a supercar. I want to celebrate this moment in a wonderful resort or a 7-star hotel. I just want to take my family to the UAE, and I want to enjoy my whole life staying with them.”
He added: “My mother and father have very small dreams, and I want to fulfill all their dreams. I want to take care of them.”
Anil Kumar Bhola is committed to charitable works
The 29-year-old winner also reveals that he also intends to donate a portion of his winnings to charity. “I have a plan to donate some money to charity. Because I believe the donations will reach people who will really need the money. This gives me intrinsic happiness.”
Expressing his gratitude to the UAE Lottery, Anil concluded with an encouraging message to other participants, saying, “I believe everything happens for a reason. I suggest every player to keep playing, and surely, luck will come to you one day.”
According to Khaleej Times, the UAE Lottery has produced more than 200 winners with prizes worth AED 100,000, and more than 100,000 players have collectively won prizes worth more than AED 147 million since its launch.
