The medical student said they wanted “a true story because we mostly only hear about scandals. Sometimes there are moments that remind you why some stars gain lifelong fan bases.”

There is a reason why Salman Khan is fondly called the ‘Bhajan of Bollywood’. The actor, who turns 60 next month, was a fan favorite. And there are no two ways to say it. Now, a Reddit user has shared an anecdote with the title, “My first-hand experience that completely changed my view on Salman Khan.”
The person, a medical student, spoke about the time when Salman Khan helped a young girl with a congenital heart defect (hole in the heart).
“I have seen a lot of gossip and blind things about Bollywood celebrities, but this is something I personally witnessed during my final year of medical school in the pediatric ward, and it really changed the way I look at Salman Khan,” the medical student said.
“I was taking the clinical history of a young girl who had a congenital heart defect (hole in the heart). She needed surgery, and from the family’s situation, it was clear that they really couldn’t afford such an expensive procedure,” the person added.
During the conversation, the father revealed that the girl’s older brother was suffering from the same disease years ago, but he received effective treatment in one of the best hospitals in Mumbai thanks to Salman Khan.
Salman Khan’s silent support
The medical student inquired how the family had previously paid for such an expensive procedure. The father then revealed that he went to Salman Khan’s office and submitted proof of necessity and medical records. “He told me something that frankly shocked me: He said he had taken all his documents to Salman Khan somewhere in his office. They checked everything, and Salman’s team financed the entire surgery, every penny.”
The character added, “He also told me that Salman helps many of these patients quietly, without publicity or cameras. He truly believed that Salman would help his daughter as well. Hearing this directly from the patient’s family, and not from a PR article or piece, really increased my respect for him. It’s rare in this industry to hear about real charity that isn’t done for the sake of image.”
“Just wanted to share this true story because we mostly only hear about scandals and blinds. Sometimes there are moments that remind you why some stars gain fan bases for life,” the post concluded.

Bollywood, Salman Khan’s fans react to his cute behaviour
Reddit users took to the comments section and shared their love, respect and admiration for Salman Khan.
One comment read: “In short, he is a human being. We, none of us, are completely good or completely bad. We all fall on a spectrum. Just as his bad deeds do not erase the good he does, the good does not nullify the bad.”
One of them confirmed: “This is what I can confirm. I used to work in one of the leading hospitals in Mumbai and saw his charitable work. Family members of patients were standing under his building with details of their illness. He helped a lot of people.”
Another added: “It’s true, he has paid for many surgeries and helped many people who cannot afford medical care.”
Salman Khan’s Mumbai-based non-profit organisation, Being Human, is known for funding healthcare and education programmes. The charity gets its funding partly through the sale of being Human branded merchandise such as clothing, watches and jewellery.
