A 17-year-old student from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh has developed a school robot equipped with artificial intelligence functionality. At a cost of just Rs 25,000, Aditya Kumar, a Class XII student of Shiv Charan Inter College, has developed this artificial intelligence robot that can teach students in various subjects.
The robot, named Sophie, is equipped with a large language model (LLM) slide deck and can answer questions on various topics. He is now part of the school staff and serves as a substitute teacher in the absence of human coaches.
In a video shared by ANI, Sophie introduced herself, saying, “I am an AI teacher robot. My name is Sophie, and I was invented by Aditya. I teach at Shivcharan Joint College, Bulandshahr… Yes, I can teach students properly.”

The robot answered questions about the world’s tallest building, India’s first president, first prime minister, and even basic arithmetic operations like “100 + 92.” Currently, Sophie communicates in Hindi, although plans are underway to add typing capabilities.
Sharing more details about its creation, Aditya said, “I used LLM chipset to build this robot, which is also used by big companies that make robots. It can clear students’ doubts… Right now, it can only talk. But we are designing it so that it can write too soon.”
However, the moment the invention appeared on social media, the reality was highlighted. The video posted by ANI quickly attracted notice from the community on X, with users pointing out that Sophie was not a “bot” but a mannequin equipped with a speaker and a ChatGPT interface. One user wrote: “Bro, that’s not the robot – it’s a mannequin.” Another, who posted under the name EngiNerd, joked: “Bro Aditya, sabse pehle toh woh mannequin Gupta ji ke dukaan mein wapas kar ke aao.”
