Many travelers know that landing in Bengaluru does not mean you have arrived in the city yet. The airport is far from the main areas, and the long flight often becomes an internet joke. This gap between the airport and the city has recently become the center of fun moments on social media.
The American tech founder posted that he had arrived in Bengaluru right after landing, and locals quickly chimed in to tell him the real journey was still ahead.
Social media is reacting to the founder’s delightful post
Mike Horton, Texas-based co-founder of Crossbow Technology and Geodnet, has arrived in Bengaluru for an event. After landing at Kempegowda International Airport, he shared a picture and wrote: “I arrived in Bangalore and I am very excited.”
His cheerful update quickly attracted comments from people who felt the need to warn him about what lay ahead. “This is not Bangalore, it’s still 2.5 hours away,” one person said in a post that received more than a million views.

Others joined in with their own jokes. “Bangalore is still 2 hours away,” one wrote. Another joked: “This is not Bangalore, the actual Bangalore is still two days away.”
Some tried to add a little friendly advice. “Tere jaisa bus nahi Lega wo taxi will arrive in 1.5 hours,” one user said. “Kuch time baad pata chalega,” another person joked.
Another wrote: “Welcome to traffic-jammed Silicon Valley.” One person commented, “My brother is happy he made it to Karnataka, but he realizes that these stupid people built their only airport two and a half hours from the city.”
Mike Horton enjoys the lukewarm responses
Horton responded to several comments and seemed to enjoy the humor. He remained optimistic and said the long journey would not dampen his enthusiasm. After arriving in the city, he wrote: “Bengaluru is amazing.”
When one user complimented him for smiling after a 20-hour flight, he explained that it had actually been 23 hours.
In another update, he shared a picture of himself outside a Chaayos store and said that he is excited to try tea in India.
Horton will reportedly attend India Blockchain Week in Bengaluru before traveling to Delhi to attend the Geo Smart conference.
