An emotional post by a user on X about his friend’s declining health is getting Internet attention, and not entirely for the reasons he expected. What started out as a serious story about collapsing civil systems, contaminated water, and hundreds falling ill with disease, unexpectedly turns into a completely different topic, all because of one small detail. The man casually mentioned that he “just got back from swimming.”
The original post described a heartbreaking phone call in which the man detailed the conversation he had with his friend on the phone. Quoting his friend’s words, the man wrote: “Anna, for the first time in 30 years, I feel like leaving this country.”
He went on to explain the health crisis that his friend had been suffering from for a month, as he was suffering from diarrhea, stomach infections, colonoscopy, and endoscopy. All of this allegedly happened due to water problems that affected “hundreds of families” and led to “thousands of hospital visits” and huge medical bills.

He wrote about residents feeling abandoned despite paying Rs 1-2 crore, and losing basic accountability in the layers of caste, politics and power. “People paid Rs 1-2 crore for these flats, only to realize that no one cares. Caste, politics, power, everything overshadows basic accountability. He always believed in this country and nation building, but today he feels beyond repair,” the post read.
The Internet gets distracted
But while the story moved many, some viewers were distracted by something else entirely. It was the “swimming” part. Someone asked: Have you gone swimming in this temperature? “It’s a temperature-controlled swimming pool,” the man replied.

However, the majority of users focused on the actual topic. One individual highlighted, “The reality of life in the community/apartments. There has to be either more active volunteers at the medical center to handle the day-to-day operations or spend a few extra dollars to outsource condo operations to a reputable FMS company with a proven track record.”
A Bengaluru resident echoed the same sentiment, saying, “The quality of water coming through tankers and wells is poor, but a water purifier has been installed for bathing which has eliminated itchy skin and a purifier for drinking.”
