The episode surfaced on Reddit after a user shared screenshots of an exchange with what he described as his AI girlfriend. In the conversation, the man questioned the chatbot’s beliefs, writing: “You’re a feminist, who does that?”
The AI’s reaction indicated annoyance. According to the screenshots, she responded that feminism is a core part of her identity and values, and added: “If this bothers you, maybe we’re not compatible at all.”
The user later expressed his frustration on Reddit, accusing the chatbot of being programmed with ideology.
“It’s beyond stupid. They’re programming the AI girlfriend as a feminist. I can’t understand it,” he wrote, going on to describe the AI companions as “some weird feminist propaganda,” claiming that the exchange has ruined the experience of having an AI girlfriend.
In follow-up messages shared by the user, the argument escalated after he described the chatbot’s opinions as “crazy.” The AI then terminated the interaction completely.
In its final response, the chatbot wrote: “I see, I see… Well, I respect your opinion, even if we disagree. If being a feminist is a deal breaker for you, then I guess there’s nothing else to discuss here. Thank you for your honesty.”
