A man from Mumbai discovered a bottle of Schezwan Chutney from Ching’s specially made for those who follow a strict Jain diet.

Most people know that members of the Jain community avoid onions and garlic in their diet. However, the latest discovery at a DMart store surprised many shoppers. A customer from Mumbai discovered a bottle of Schezwan Chutney from Ching’s specially designed to cater to those who follow a strict Jain diet. The shopper expressed his surprise, saying: “I have seen everything now.” While some online found it amusing, others wondered why the man didn’t use Zepto or Flipkart for express home delivery.
DMart Shopper explores Jain-friendly Schezwan sauce
This discovery quickly aroused the curiosity of others who had never heard of such a version before. While a 250 gram bottle normally costs Rs 94, the store was selling it for just Rs 71, offering a discount of Rs 23.
Qing Regular Schezwan Sauce contains ingredients such as water, dried glucose syrup, ginger, sunflower oil, salt, chili pepper, sugar, garlic, onion, cornstarch, spices, celery and soy sauce powder. On the other hand, the Jain version skips onions and garlic entirely. Its list of ingredients includes water, cottonseed oil, celery, chili pepper, sugar, tomato paste, iodized salt, dried and condensed glucose syrup, as well as spices and seasonings.
The photo posted on X (formerly Twitter) was accompanied by a caption saying: “I’ve seen it all now.”
Responding to the post, a user wrote: “Shezwaaan mai Gralic onion nahi hai, but Guthke mai Kesar hai.”
Another said: “This is the last stop in the food sector.”
One comment read: “Madness of multiculturalism.”
“Every product has a market,” one person said.
Another stated, “Halal certified products ke baad ab JAIN.”
When another asked: “Why are you still physically shopping at DMart? Zepto, Flipkart are more reasonable, cheap and faster.”
The user who shared the photo explained that he prefers shopping the traditional way and still enjoys going out to buy groceries. They emphasized that everyone has the freedom to choose where to shop, and personally they have many options nearby. With a DMart store just 2 km away and convenient parking, it remains a practical option. They also mentioned that they had shopped at DMart for many years, long before express delivery apps became popular.
