A video of a woman describing an uncomfortable encounter during her morning jog has sparked a heated debate online. In the clip, she talks about being ridiculed by a group of young boys and wonders where this behavior comes from. Filmed in a forest area near Bengaluru, the video sparked strong reactions, with some supporting her stance while others blamed her clothing choices, her exposure to the internet, or questioned her version of events.

The clip was widely shared and continues to divide opinion across social media.

A woman confronts minors after repeated statements

The video begins with the woman explaining how the accident happened while she was running. “If someone said a sarcastic remark and laughed at you, you would understand, wouldn’t you? One child commented to his friends after looking at this area,” she says. She points towards her chest and adds that the boys started laughing. “They all started laughing, so I turned around and looked at them very angrily.”

It then provides context about where the incident occurred. “I’m in a forest, completing a 5km run. Near Bangalore, this is called Avalahalli Forest, and I was wearing very normal clothes, track pants, sports bra, and a tank top. There’s nothing wrong with these clothes. I know this is completely normal for me.”

According to her, the boys were very young. “The three kids were barely 10, 12, maybe 13, maybe even younger,” she says, adding that she does not understand Kannada. However, I felt that the tone and laughter were palpable. “If someone makes a sarcastic remark and laughs at you, you’ll understand, right?”

At first, she chose to ignore it, believing that they would learn better with age. But she says the comments persisted. “They all stopped and were laughing among themselves. They were saying something about my breasts. Then I got angry.”

She explained that when she returned to confront them, the boy who made the comments ran away. “I scolded him…I was telling him, ‘Learn some manners,’ blah blah blah.” Then it creates even more anxiety. “The biggest question is, where do these children learn all these things? They obviously learn it from their homes, from the people around them. And sometimes even from their parents. This is considered normal.”

“Basically, it’s about parenting and teaching your kids basic morals, which is something kids today are sorely lacking in,” she adds later in the clip. She wonders why she now has to worry about comments, even from children. “Now, should I also be worried about little kids and think I shouldn’t wear certain clothes because I might get comments from kids too? Kids can also pass on comments.”

The Internet reacts with sharp division

As the video gained more attention, users shared mixed reactions. One person wrote: “The comments and quotes on this tweet from men prove her right about ‘bad upbringing and social influences’. Read the comments and realize we are surrounded by bullies, molesters, rapists and monsters!”

Others disagreed. One user said: “Blame the boys or children not your actions. They are children and now have access to the internet, they see this every day now.” Another commented: “Feminist jogging in Avalahalli forest says some underage boys made comments in a language she doesn’t even understand and immediately blames their upbringing and parents.”

Some comments turned aggressive. “KannaNiggas is now defending these boys who have been harassing her,” one person wrote. Another questioned her narration, saying: “She doesn’t understand Kannada but she understands what the boys said in Kannada.”

Others criticized the clip itself. “One-sided clips don’t tell the whole story,” one user said. Another added: “Girls try to look attractive everywhere… Why? Boys are bad, but you?” “She blamed everyone, but she didn’t understand that if she showed something, people would look at it, otherwise dress properly,” one comment read.
