Poor civic sense among passengers continues to be a headache for the Indian Railway authorities. The Vande Bharat coach was at the center of another case of people carelessly littering around, showing little responsibility as Indian citizens. A video clip going viral on social media has drawn people’s attention to yet another act indicating atrocious manners, where a person dropped his used glasses and plates next to the seats inside a Vande Bharat bus.
In the short clip, one can see used paper glasses, plates and wrappers that someone left on the floor of one of Vande Bharat’s premium buses, which are usually clean and tidy. A traveler spotted these used accessories, recorded the video and shared it online.
“Lack of civic sense”
“Some people in this country simply do not deserve good facilities. Even on a well-maintained premium train like Vande Bharat, they bring their worst habits with them and turn it into chaos. It is disheartening to see such world-class infrastructure treated without any civic sense. When will this mentality ever change?” asked one of the people who shared the clip on popular social media platform X.

That person looked down upon the travelers who threw their garbage on the Vande Bharat floor without thinking twice, and said, “At least I am proud to say that I am not one of them.” The clip did not reveal who put those used glasses and plates on the ground. But more of these online users have joined the brigade and criticized those who must be littering around them.
Travelers criticized for leaving waste inside Vande Bharat
As a video of a passenger or a group of passengers carelessly dumping waste inside Vande Bharat gained attention online, people attacked the unethical individuals responsible for the incident. They started making fun of them and criticized their behavior in a humorous tone.
One person sarcastically asked: “Why don’t the faces of these heroes appear? They deserve public praise.”
“I have always said that common sense and civic sense are a luxury in India, something that very few people can afford,” one individual said.
Another said: “Infrastructural development in India can be corrected, but the civic sense and common sense of some people cannot be corrected.”
The video once again rings alarm bells about the lack of proper civic sense among train passengers and common citizens in India. Any efforts made by the authorities will ultimately prove to be futile unless we change our mentality and basic ethics.
