A video clip circulating on social media showed an elderly woman confronting a man riding a motorcycle on a footpath in Kozhikode city. In the clip, the woman can be seen strongly asking the passenger not to use the sidewalk and drive on the road.
The accident occurred near Iranjipalam traffic signal in the city. The short video, which was shared on Reddit, quickly attracted attention online, with viewers praising the woman for standing up against traffic violations and showing courage despite her age.
After the elderly woman intervened, the man riding the motorcycle had no choice but to stop and return to the road. Her firm attitude and clear instructions left him little room for discussion, forcing him to abandon riding on the sidewalk and continue safely on the right track.
People praised her on social media with many commenting that her actions served as a reminder to commuters to respect pedestrian spaces. Many users expressed hope that more citizens would follow suit and speak out against dangerous driving habits.
“I just wish there were 5-10 other people out there half as brave as her,” one user said.
Another added: “A lady her age shouldn’t have to fight for her right to use the side walk, but it’s a shame she has to.”
“Amashi is lucky. Nowadays people can be very rude and violent. These days we see so many news articles about road rage and violence over simple things. If things went wrong, the scooter guy could have pushed her aside or run her over her foot,” a third user commented.
Another said: “I aspire to be like this Ammashi.”
