Over the past few years, there has been an alarming increase in cases of mobile phone explosions around the world. Incidents involving devices overheating or exploding during charging or use have surfaced online, highlighting the potential safety risks associated with electronic gadgets. One such incident occurred recently in China. A video clip spread on social media showing a girl miraculously escaping from serious injuries after a phone exploded while she was pregnant.
The incident, which occurred on Monday, March 9, was captured on a surveillance camera installed inside her home. The footage showed the girl sitting on the couch while browsing her phone. At that time, the device appeared to be connected to the charger. A few seconds into the clip, the situation took a serious turn.
The girl fell off the couch
The phone suddenly went off loudly as the girl held it close to her face. The unexpected explosion startled her, causing her to lose her balance and fall off the sofa. Fortunately, despite the frightening incident, the girl did not appear to suffer any visible injuries as a result of the explosion.
Not knowing what to do next, the little girl, who was shocked, left the device as it was and fled from that place crying loudly. Meanwhile, the damaged mobile phone continued to burn with visible flames and an audible cracking sound.
Some call it scary, others believe it was created by artificial intelligence
As soon as the clip appeared online, many viewers expressed concerns about the safety of mobile phones. One user said: “This is very scary, especially for a baby girl. I hope she is doing well.”
Another person joked: “People sleep next to their phones while they’re charging every night…stories like this are a scary reminder of how dangerous this can be.”
Another person wrote: “Phones can be dangerous if they overheat while charging or being stressed. I hope nothing major happens to them.”
Another person shared that people should not use electronic devices while charging, saying, “Nowadays phones can work while charging, but continuous use while charging can cause the device to overheat. This is why people should avoid using phones while charging. Cheap chargers, damaged batteries, or overheating can be very dangerous.”
Meanwhile, one section speculated whether the clip was AI-generated, writing, “Her little right foot came through the cable….her face is clean. AI (but yeah….that’s a risk with any batteries).”
One person asked Grok to verify the clip, and he responded: “The video is authentic-looking security camera footage dated March 9, 2026, from a home (most likely in China, based on decor and timestamp). Little girl on sofa holding device near long white charging cable; suddenly ignites/flashes at floor outlet, causing smoke and small fire on floor. She jumps, lands, then stands up and moves away unharmed. No confirmation of mainstream news yet (incident) Also) modern/simple), but matches the known risks of overheating of faulty chargers/batteries The “about to lose its life” claim is exaggerated – it runs away quickly.
