A viral clip from Bengaluru captures a loving moment between a monkey and his 85-year-old friend

Emotional moment as monkey hugs 85-year-old woman who fed him: ‘The wealth you take with you’
They say animals never forget kindness, and the video currently sweeping social media seems to be the definitive proof. The footage, shot in Rayara Dhodi, Channapatna (near Bengaluru) and shared by TOI’s Bengaluru handle, captures a moment so raw and rare that it left thousands of viewers reaching for tissue paper.
The video shows an 85-year-old woman who is said to have made it a daily ritual to feed the local monkeys. When she passed away, one of her usual “friends” stayed behind for a final, heartbreaking farewell.

In the unverified footage, a monkey appears sitting next to the woman’s body. In a gesture that feels painfully human, the primate leans forward and wraps its arms around her in a gentle embrace, caressing her as if trying to wake her or simply saying goodbye. Although the location and specific relationship between the woman and the monkey have not been officially verified, that did not stop social media from sharing the video.
One user poignantly commented: “Man… in these depressing times, animals are the ones who quietly keep the world in balance. Who would have thought!”
Another viewer considered that moment a spiritual lesson about what really matters in life, commenting: “This is the wealth you take with you after you die.” Another user wrote: “The way the monkey hugged her shows the depth of love that transcends words and species.”

For those who were touched by the spiritual connection between the two, the feeling was even deeper: “Whether human or animal, the same Supreme Divine Consciousness exists within everyone as the soul… Every living being can feel happiness and pain. This is a heart-breaking video… Om Shanti 🙏🙏”
There have been many instances where animals have formed a special bond with humans, which shows how sincere and selfless their love is.
