Incidents of racial discrimination and misconduct with Indians living abroad do not stop. The latest case came to light in the small city of Kentville in the province of Nova Scotia in Canada. During a morning walk with a young man of Indian origin who lives here, an elderly woman openly misbehaved and made racist comments to him. The victim youth shot a video of this entire incident and shared it on Instagram, after which people on social media strongly condemned this act and stood up in support of the Indian youth.
“My whole day has been ruined…” The pain of Indian youth extends
While the video was being circulated, the young Indian man said that he works in the city of Kentville and as usual went out for a run in the morning. Then on the way this elderly woman saw him and made racist comments to him. When the woman’s behavior worsened, the young man turned on his mobile phone camera. The young man wrote: “This incident happened to me in a small town called Kentville, where I work. This woman’s behavior ruined my entire day.” However, the young man also made it clear that the entire city could not be considered at fault because of this one woman.
The young man said that there is no place for racism in society
“This doesn’t happen every day here,” she wrote. “But when this happens to you, don’t be silent, speak out because there is no place for racism in society. I hope this video reaches the people of Kentville so that this woman feels ashamed of her actions, because the rest of the people here are not like that at all.”
People erupted in anger on social media, and reactions appeared in the comments
As soon as this video spread on the Internet, people became angry with this elderly woman and began praising the young man’s courage. Different types of comments come on the video. “Just ask this woman that just as we came here, her ancestors also came here from Europe. Canada doesn’t belong to anyone,” one user quipped. Another Indian user encouraged the young man and wrote: “Well done brother, people like this should give such a decent response.”

Why are Indians being targeted abroad?
For some time now, videos of misconduct, abuse and discrimination against Indians have been continuously coming to the fore from Canada, Australia, the UK and many parts of Europe. Experts believe that due to high inflation, unemployment and housing shortages in these countries, locals have started blaming Indian immigrants and students, which has led to an increase in these hate incidents. Although the large population there remains welcoming to immigrants, such incidents certainly raise concerns about security.
