A former employee shared how a job that lasted just 15 days left her dealing with anxiety and self-doubt for nearly a year. In a Reddit post titled “My first corporate job lasted 15 days. The trauma lasted a year,” the 22-year-old claimed that her experience at her first corporate job affected her long after she left the company.
The woman said she joined the company as a new student, excited to start her career. However, she claimed that things went downhill within two weeks, leaving her struggling to rebuild her self-confidence even a year later.
She shares what allegedly happened
According to the Reddit post, the woman joined ZS Associates hoping to get a strong start in her career. But within 15 days, she claimed, she found herself in conflict with a human resources representative, who she claimed “didn’t like her.”
She claimed that HR accused her of doing “disgusting things” about her without providing any evidence, which ultimately led to her being asked to leave the company.
The woman also claimed that another human resources representative warned her not to speak publicly about the incident. “It’s a small world HR people, if you don’t behave and quit, your career will likely be ruined forever,” according to the post, the HR person told her.
She also claimed that HR threatened legal action if she discussed the incident and warned that security would be called if she refused to resign. The former employee also claimed that while she was having a panic attack and talking to her family on the phone, her phone was taken away.
She also claimed that her bathroom breaks were monitored despite the company being informed that she was suffering from a severe urinary tract infection (UTI) and other health problems. “I still believe I was not given a fair opportunity to defend myself, and the experience has completely shattered my confidence,” she wrote.

The consequences stayed with her
The woman said losing the job wasn’t the hardest part. Instead, she said the emotional impact that followed stayed with her for months.
“People think losing a job is the painful part. For me, the painful part was everything that came after: the treatment, the anxiety, the sleepless nights, watching my friends move forward while I struggled to rebuild,” she wrote.
She added that she was only 22 and fresh out of college, and didn’t know how to handle a situation where “you felt like all the power was on the other side of the table.”
Concluding her article, she reflected on how workplace decisions impact employees long after they leave. “Sometimes, a company decision becomes just another file on someone’s desk. For an employee, it can become a memory they carry for years.”
Reddit users react
The post was supported by many Reddit users, many of whom sympathized with the woman.
“People love power trips, they know that newbies panic and quit quickly, especially since finding any decent job is now a nightmare,” one user wrote.
The woman replied: “Exactly man, thank you so much for your kindness. I have no idea why people fail to find basic empathy. It’s a nightmare in this economy and the worst part is that the HR people left the company soon after, so there won’t be any justice :)”
