In a bizarre incident, a 41-year-old woman was arrested in Louisiana after she was allegedly found naked in a neighbor’s pool.
In an official statement shared on Facebook on Wednesday, January 7, the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office (UPSO) in Farmerville, Louisiana announced that Erin Elizabeth Sutton was taken into custody this week in connection with the incident that occurred last year.
Woman caught in neighbor’s pool
The alleged incident occurred in November 2025. It all started when authorities received a trespassing complaint. In response, officials were dispatched to a home in the Linville community of Marion.
According to the statement, the homeowner contacted officials and claimed that their neighbor was “standing in their driveway and screaming,” despite being warned on multiple occasions not to trespass on their property.
After arriving at the scene, UPSO officials found the woman “swimming, naked, in a pool” on her neighbor’s property.
At first, Sutton refused to get out of the pool and did not want to talk to the police official. She reportedly told officials she was “trying to be a mermaid.”
She finally emerged from the pool after several orders from officials and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to give her a blanket due to the cold weather after the evaluation, the statement said.
Later, she was taken to a house to warm up, while Sutton “suddenly attacked the deputy,” the department wrote on the social media platform.
Things did not stop here as Sutton refused to obey even after several orders. Finally, the deputy fired a stun gun, but it had no effect on her. Sutton was then thrown to the ground while resisting arrest and continued to “kick and punch the deputy.”
Accusations against women
Once officials got the matter under control and Sutton was restrained, they decided to take her to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
In its statement, UPSO claimed that the accused “threatened to kill deputies and paramedics” while she was being transported to the hospital.
Officials were unable to detain her at the time of the accident because she needed medical treatment. Sutton finally turned herself in before the UPSO on January 6. After that, she was taken into custody for further investigation.
According to People magazine, she currently faces multiple charges of public intimidation, resisting an officer and battery on a police officer, as well as one count each of disturbing the peace and criminal trespassing.
