Many big faces were seen at the swearing-in ceremony of the new Bihar government, but the name that was discussed the most was that of Deepak Prakash, son of Upendra Kushwaha. The reason is not only that he became a minister without running in the elections, but that his swearing-in while wearing jeans, a shirt, and shoes spread on social media. As soon as he reached the platform of Gandhi Maidan in Patna, his look was immediately captured by cameras and within minutes it went viral on social media.
The phrase “a minister in jeans and a T-shirt” became widespread
As soon as the video and photo of Deepak Prakash taking oath appeared on Twitter, people started making different kinds of comments. Many users joked that for the first time in Bihar, a leader has become a minister in jeans and t-shirt. A user wrote that the minister is going straight to college without contesting elections and it looks as if he is going to college… A new style has arrived in the Nitish government.
Meanwhile, another user sarcastically said that the biggest surprise in Nitish’s cabinet – taking oath in jeans, t-shirt and crocs… is the new family fashion. Many people said that this is the latest example of familialism in democracy, because Deepak Prakash is not a member of any assembly at the moment. But he is still a minister.

Who is Deepak Prakash?
Although his political journey was not very long, his family background is strong. He is the son of RLM supremo and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha. He has been made a minister from the RLMO quota in the Nitish government.
Most importantly, Deepak is not a member of any council, neither the Assembly nor the Legislative Council. Therefore, he will have to become an MLC or MLA within six months. It is believed that he could be sent to the MLC seat vacated by Samrat Chaudhary.
