If there is one food that has transcended age, geography and logic in India, it has to be momos. From college cafeterias to street corners and even railway platforms, momos have quietly become a national obsession. Steamed, fried, spicy, and dripping with sauce, they are now mere foodstuffs but have become a passion for many. A recent video circulating on social media proves just that and is quite helpful.
The clip was shot in Chitrakoot and shared by a businessman who runs a pickle company. The person behind the clip spotted an elderly woman sitting peacefully on a plastic chair, completely absorbed in enjoying her momo. The sheer joy on a woman’s face while eating can make anyone smile. Intrigued, the man decided to start a conversation and videotape the interaction.
The clip was accompanied by a simple text, “I recently went to Chitrakoot and found her eating this.” From behind the camera, the man gently asks: “Ye kya kha rahe ho aap?” Without hesitation, the woman confidently responds, “Mamoog” instead of momos, and the innocence she answers is worthy of melting hearts. The voice behind the camera is a bit confused but amused, and asks again: “Manoj?” Then the woman burst into laughter, shook her head and answered more confidently: “Mamoj.”
Comedy gold in the comments
The woman’s innocence, unapologetic love for momos and her hilarious mix-up of names have struck a chord with viewers across social media. One user commented on the clip, saying: “Please don’t eat manoj.” Another joined: “She eats 100 manoj for breakfast.” Another person replied, “Chitrakoot me manoj kab se milne laga.” Swiggy Instamart also joined in the fun and captioned the clip, writing: “mayonni missing hai”.
My mother’s love for momos
One person shared his mother’s love for the snack and wrote, “I think every woman loves to eat momos… My mother is so obsessed with momos that every winter she makes momos on alternate days and not just one or two days but in huge quantities… What if my daughter and mother get together?”
One person jumped on the bandwagon to defend the woman’s mixed words, saying: “It’s not her fault, the food is not from her territory.”
Well, the viral video is proof that momos always win, not just as a snack but as a sentiment.
