US President Donald Trump refused to answer a female journalist’s question during a joint press interview with Argentine President Javier Miley, stating instead that “just like…[s] “To watch her talk.” The exchange occurred during a wide-ranging White House press briefing where Donald Trump took questions on topics including a planned Argentina bailout, his warnings for Hamas to disarm and criticism of New York City mayoral candidate Zahran Mamdani.
As the convention drew to a close, Donald Trump told reporters that his administration was “closing Democratic programs that we disagree with” and that they “will never be opened again.”
When a journalist finally asked a question – “As China deepens its presence in Latin America, what role do you see for the United States?” Donald Trump looked up, smiled, and motioned for her to continue. As she spoke, he turned to US Vice President J.D. Vance, who was sitting next to him, and said: “I just like to watch her talk.”
Donald Trump then said to the reporter with a laugh: “Good job. Thank you, honey,” before walking away without answering the question.
This moment adds to a growing list of Donald Trump’s controversial comments about women while appearing in public. Earlier, Donald Trump made statements about the appearance of the White House press secretary, Carolyn Levitt, saying: “That face… and those lips, they move like a machine gun.” The comment echoed one he made in August, when he said: “It’s that face, it’s that brain, it’s those lips, it’s the way they move.”
At the Gaza Peace Summit in Egypt earlier this week, Donald Trump referred to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni as a “beautiful young woman,” adding: “You don’t mind being called beautiful, do you? Because you are.”
