A chaotic scene erupted at a major US airport on New Year’s Eve after a female passenger was caught on camera threatening female airline employees during a heated confrontation that quickly went viral on social media. The incident occurred at Southwest Airlines’ office at Kansas City International Airport. Videos circulating online showed the man shouting at airline staff, using abusive language and making repeated threats of physical violence as stunned passengers looked on.

The footage shows the passenger leaning across the table and placing his hand on the computer screen being used by an employee. The woman asked him to back off, warning that she would call the police if he continued. This appears to have increased the anger of the man, who can be heard shouting and threatening to hit the staff.

As the situation escalated, other airline employees moved to protect their colleague, while a number of passengers intervened to prevent the confrontation from turning into violence. Witnesses said that passengers urged the man to calm down as tensions spread in the station area.

Airport officials later said the incident occurred during a security investigation that briefly disrupted operations at the airport. Police and federal agents were called and passengers were evacuated from parts of the station as a precaution.

In a later update, authorities said that the airport had resumed normal operations after confirming that there was no real security threat. According to social media posts by the person who shared the video, the man was later arrested.
