Weddings in India are often a big event, known for their elaborate themes, lavish décor and non-stop celebrations. However, a recent wedding caught attention because it took luxury to an unexpected level. A widely circulated video shows guests receiving intravenous drips, apparently to “treat the alcohol.”
The Instagram clip shows guests getting hooked on IV vitamin injections while lounging on sofas. The caption reads: “Personal perspective: You’re at a wedding… and instead of nimbu pani, there’s a legit IV bar by the pool.”

These IV bars are promoted as “hangover cures” or wellness boosters, especially during weddings which often involve late nights, alcohol and heavy meals. Packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, the drops claim to provide instant energy and glowing skin. However, doctors warn that using such treatments without medical supervision, especially in non-clinical settings, can pose serious risks.
“Bahoot kul ho gaya, ab next kiya… open surgery.”
The video was shared on November 19, and has received more than 3.9 million views. Many criticized this trend. “No amount of glorification can make this look great. It’s your body you’re sacrificing,” one user wrote. Another joked: “Bahoot kul ho gaya, ab next kiya…open surgery?”
Some have questioned the legality and safety of intravenous drips for special occasions. “The seller can be put behind bars. This is fatal to health… Has this been cleared by any medical authority?” someone asked.
Others lamented the shift from traditional rituals: “Indian marriages were supposed to revolve around rituals and pujas… where did they get so derailed that daru became mainstream and now this IV drip?” One individual put out a cautionary note, saying: “Intravenous glutathione + vitamin…not recommended without proper physician advice.”
While some view intravenous drips as a modern luxury upgrade, others raise concerns about potential health risks and ethical issues.
