Sugar mill waste caused panic in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district earlier this week. What seemed like a normal road suddenly turned dangerous, resulting in a series of accidents. At least 12 cyclists reportedly slipped and fell after losing control of their vehicles, leaving more than 20 people with minor injuries. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt.

Reports indicate that the road has become slippery due to waste generated by the nearby sugar factory. Farmers usually take this waste to their fields because it is used as natural fertilizer. While being transported by tractors, some material falls on the road. When it rains, the waste mixes with the water, making the road very slippery. Passing cyclists were unable to control their vehicles in time, which led to them falling several times. The accident raised safety concerns.

Sugar mill waste makes the road slippery

The video begins with the biker entering the frame at high speed and suddenly sliding down the road. Seeing him fall, two other riders try to brake, but they also lose balance and collide. As the clip continues, more motorcyclists can be seen slipping and falling one by one. The incident was recorded by a resident who was eating at a nearby restaurant when he noticed several motorcyclists slipping and falling on the road.

Police act quickly after the video spreads

Shortly after the video was circulated online, Amroha police responded: “Due to the sugarcane waste thrown on the road in front of the Blue Birds School, the road became slippery during the rain. Given the seriousness of the situation, the Bishroun police immediately prepared a tractor and a sugar factory fire truck to spray water and clean the waste from the road. After the cleaning work was completed, traffic returned and began moving normally. At present, traffic is moving smoothly.”

Residents demand a permanent solution

According to the Free Press Journal, a fire truck from the sugar factory was used to wash the road and remove waste dumped on it. Despite the cleanup, people living nearby said the problem persists and needs a permanent solution. They feel that cleaning the road once every time the problem occurs is not enough and steps must be taken to prevent waste from falling on the road.
