Kanpur MLA Mahesh Trivedi’s vehicles were reportedly caught on camera violating traffic rules. Months after his ’10 per cent’ remarks, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has attracted attention for allegedly not following traffic rules. A video clip circulating on social media shows three SUVs named Trivedi crossing onto the wrong side of the road. It is not known when the clip was recorded.

The 20-second clip, filmed from the back of a car, depicts vehicles coming from the left and heading onto the wrong side of the road. The rest of the traffic is moving normally, but the SUVs continue to turn on the wrong side.

Social media reacts to MLA’s traffic rules violation

Many users demanded that the politician be suspended from work. “What do I say now? This should be a violation of dismissal from the office,” one user commented.

Another wrote: “I have never seen a politician follow any traffic rules. Are there any rules in general?”

“Traffic rules are not optional. Authority does not give anyone the right to risk people’s lives. Road safety applies to everyone,” one account stated.

One user explained that VIP culture is a systemic problem and is not limited to political parties like the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Another pointed out that politicians are always considered above the law.

One comment read: “Wrong-side driving has become the biggest threat and cause of accidents on Indian roads.”

Mahesh Trivedi’s controversial statements

In September, an alleged video of a Kidwai Nagar MLA saying that paralegals not only receive salaries but also get a “10 per cent commission” from their mutual legal aid funds sparked controversy. According to PTI, Trivedi was seen telling party workers that grassroots workers “don’t get anything in return” while legislators benefit from kickbacks and salaries. He is also alleged to have advised Hindus to keep swords and spears at home for their protection.
