‘Leaving the city tomorrow’: Startup founder cuts Delhi visit short, says he can ‘smell’ pollution

As Delhi continues to suffer from toxic smog and deteriorating air quality, one of the tech founders has been advised to leave the city. Kunal Kushwaha, Senior Developer Advocate at CAST AI and Founder of the Education Technology Platform For MakeDevsHe shared a post on social media and said: “Leave Delhi, borrow if you have to.” Kushwaha, who lives in London, said he could “smell and taste” the pollution.

Describing the situation as a crisis, he said buying properties in Delhi was “illogical”.

The post added: “But I was wrong. It’s a crisis. Honestly, leaving this city should be your top priority. After living in London for a few years and breathing clean air, the minute I landed in Delhi, I could literally taste and smell the pollution. Even the AQI 200 hit me hard: a sore throat, and a needle-like feeling in my lungs. In fact, I could feel the pollution entering my body.”

He also added that he cut short his trip due to pollution. “Please leave this city for your own sake. Buying a property here also makes no sense. Same for Mumbai. If you can, pack your bags and shift yourself and your business elsewhere. I have cut my journey short and will leave this city tomorrow,” Kushwaha said.

Delhi’s air quality remains ‘very poor’ for nine consecutive days. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the 24-hour average air quality index has stabilized at 370.
