The disruption to IndiGo’s flight operations has caused chaos at major airports across the country, including Delhi, Mumbai and Pune. Stations are becoming very crowded, and passengers are becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of clear updates about their travel plans.

At the Mumbai airport, a passenger lost her temper and was seen arguing with IndiGo staff as the delay and confusion continued. A video of the incident is also circulating online.

“Stay completely still, and sit exactly as you were sitting. Head down, eyes closed and mouth closed. Whatever happens, let it happen.” (“Ekdum chup ho jao, jaise baithe the na waise baith jao. Munh Nich aankhe band, muh band. Kuch bhi ho raha hai na hone dena”), the woman is heard saying in the video.

In another similar incident, two angry passengers damaged the microphone used by IndiGo staff after waiting for nearly 20 hours at the station.

In another clip that went viral, a frustrated passenger was seen shouting at an IndiGo employee who seemed unsure about the flight status. He demanded answers, saying: “Show a na, answer di na.”

A caption shared with the video read: “Passengers have lost their nerve as hundreds of Indigo flights have been cancelled. Thousands of fliers are stranded at multiple airports across the province due to last minute cancellations.”

Indigo crisis

This comes at a time when IndiGo is facing a major crisis, which has led to the delay of more than 1,000 flights in the past four days. Friday alone saw the cancellation of more than 700 flights.

In view of the situation, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu on Friday said that special attention must be paid to vulnerable passengers. “We have instructed the airport authorities to give top priority to children, mothers and the elderly, so that they do not face any problem,” Naidu said.

The central government has also ordered a high-level probe into the widespread disruption of IndiGo flights.
