A 2-year-old abandoned BMW X7 is going viral
In the clip shared on Instagram, a Tanzanian metallic blue BMW can be seen collecting dust on the side of the road. It appears from the video that the four-wheel drive vehicle has been parked for a few weeks.
Although the car itself is expensive, the highlight of the video is that it has a VIP registration number of “0001”, which is obtained after paying a lot of money.
While the clip highlights both the sides and rear appearance of the car, viewers can notice that there is no major damage to the car, except for some hand prints.
The abandoned car aroused the curiosity of social media users, many of whom expressed their opinions in the comments section of the post.
“Sometimes it’s the dust and pollution in Mumbai that makes vehicles look abandoned,” one person wrote.
Another Instagram user joked: “Car nhi to number hi de…..mujhe (Give me the number, if not the car).”
A third person said: “Mumbai main aisa hi hota hai (This is happening in Mumbai).”
“Richness is overflowing,” another user commented.
Who owns the car?
According to Kartok, the car was not abandoned, but was seized by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch. The report linked the car to Ashish Dinesh Kumar Shah, who has allegedly been detained from Madhya Pradesh on charges of cheating more than 400 investors of a total of Rs 170 crore.
The incident was revealed in July 2024. Shah is said to have opened a company called Samaryash Trading Company in 2022 and started its office in Versova in Mumbai. He allegedly told people that he was a registered agent with SEBI and assured them of returning their investments at 84 per cent interest annually, The Indian Express reported.
At the time, an official said, Shah was showing photos of his lavish lifestyle and claiming to have a large house, vehicles and an office that he acquired by investing in the stock market. Initially, he gave high returns to people for their investments. After that, more people started offering him their savings.
Later, Shah allegedly stopped returning the money to people, and the victims then contacted the police. A preliminary investigation was launched in May 2024 into the matter.
Police had earlier informed that Shah cheated investors from Mumbai, Mira Bhayandar and Tamil Nadu. An FIR has been registered against Shah at Versova police station on charges of duping investors to the tune of Rs 11.50 crore. As more depositors approached the police, the amount of fraud increased to Rs 170 crore, according to Hindustan Times.
The police also recovered 1,900 grams of gold and Rs 25,000 cash from Shah.
