Renowned filmmaker Karan Johar needs no introduction. He continues to make headlines every year for launching Star Kid. It has launched many stars like Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra, who have become major stars of the industry today. But for some time now, filmmakers and actors have been worried about rising expenses. Because of this, he has changed his intention to launch his children as actors in the Bollywood industry.
In a recent interview, Karan Johar said that the safest job in Bollywood is not acting, but…. That’s why he doesn’t want his children, eight-year-old Yash and Roohi, to become actors. He also revealed the reason behind this. The question now is, what does Karan Johar want his child to become? Why doesn’t Karan Johar want his children to become actors? Let us know what Karan Johar has to say on this-
What does Karan Johar want his children to become?
Popular director Karan Johar does not want his children Yash and Roohi to become actors. Considering their high fees in the Hindi film industry, they want their children to become hair and makeup artists. Although the actor certainly earns much more, in the current environment it would not be an exaggeration to say that a hair and makeup artist has one of the safest and most lucrative jobs on a movie set.
How safe is the work of a hair and makeup artist?
During interviews, Karan Johar expressed his desire for his children to become hair and makeup artists and not actors. He says jokingly: Don’t tell me anything about the fees that makeup and hair artists charge these days. This is the safest job in Bollywood industry. In fact, I want Ruhi and Yash to become hair and makeup artists because they earn more money than others. One of them does the hair and the other does the makeup, so it’s good for both of them.

He mocked the demand for more money
Speaking further, Karan Johar said: If you want to eat healthy food, eat it. But why should I pay for it? Many actors give us their budget saying this is our budget. If you want to go ahead, do so, while some stars spend the rest of their expenses themselves. “I think if you are getting both the graphics and the background, do it yourself and show a bit of soft nature,” Karan said. Karan Johar mocked Deepika Padukone’s request on social media and said, “Why are you taking a team of 6-8 people with you?”
“One hundred thousand a day, first class travel, five-star rooms.”
Even if we focus only on film sets, taking into account income from photo shoots and other programmes, a hair stylist or makeup artist today can earn more than a thousand rupees a day. Apart from this, in case of outdoor shooting, the filmmakers also bear travel and accommodation expenses for the hair and makeup teams. This often involves first class travel not only for the artists, but also for their assistants. Additionally, there is scheduling and overtime expenses, as the HMU department often starts work several hours earlier than the rest of the crew.
