Game, set and match! As the day came to an end, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) registered a landslide victory after crossing the 200 mark in the Bihar Assembly elections, while the Mahagathbandhan was completely wiped out with just 35 seats to its name, as per current trends.
The election was a disaster for the Mahagathbandhan’s primary national ally, the Indian National Congress, as Rahul Gandhi’s “vote-stealing” campaign failed to find any resonance on the ground. The party won 19 seats in the last elections, but managed to win only six seats this time, narrowly beating AIMIM.
In fact, what was supposed to be a contest between the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan Party, turned out to be a race between the BJP and the JD(U) to become the single largest party. In the end, the BJP got 89 seats, followed by Nitish Kumar’s party with 85 seats.
The Congress’s stunning failure on the floor unleashed a torrent of memes on social media, with users highlighting Rahul Gandhi’s yet another election defeat and his failure to connect with voters. Many users posted humorous and funny videos showcasing the downfall of Congress in Bihar in a mix of satire and deeply political comments.
Sharing a picture of Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan, a user wrote: “My brother has more fingers on one hand than there are Congress MLAs in Bihar.” Another user said that even Asaduddin Owaisi’s party has become bigger than the Congress in Bihar.
The BJP’s social media also mocked Rahul Gandhi and the Congress over the defeat. “Happy Children’s Day, @RahulGandhi. Bangkok is calling!! Tata bye bye,” the Karnataka BJP wrote on Channel X.
Netizens also mocked RJD and party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav for their dismal performance in the Bihar Assembly elections this year. Notably, the party won 75 of the 110 seats in Mahagathbandhan in a close bypoll contest in 2020.

The Bihar Assembly elections were held in two phases on November 6 and 11 in all 243 assembly constituencies. According to the Election Commission, the state has 7.42 crore registered voters, including 3.92 crore men and 3.5 crore women.
The participation rate remained strong, with the voting percentage reaching 65.08% in the first stage and 68.76% in the second stage. The inaugural phase, covering 121 seats in 18 districts, witnessed the highest ever turnout in Bihar’s electoral history at 64.66%, which was a significant rise from the previous elections.
