A video that went viral on social media, showing a Russian woman sharing her expenses in Bengaluru, has sparked outrage on the internet. In the video, creator Yulia claimed that she is paying a whopping Rs 45,000 for domestic help and Rs 1,25,000 as rent. However, the internet is divided on this claim. One netizen even commented on the video, asking: “Do you live on Mars?”
A Russian woman took to Instagram and shared a video titled ‘How much does life in Bengaluru really cost’. She gave a breakdown of basic expenses and wrote on the video that she pays Rs 1,25,000: rent, school: Rs 30,000, food and family: Rs 75,000, home help: Rs 45,000, health and fitness: Rs 30,000, and petrol: Rs 5,000.
She claims to have been living in India for 11 years and compared the expenses to today’s prices. She even compared the cost of living in Bengaluru with many other European countries.
“Well, 11 years ago, when I came to Bangalore to do my business project, everything was very reasonable for me. Maybe because my country’s currency was very strong, and I was dividing all the prices in half,” Yulia captioned the video.
“I still remember the beautiful two-bedroom apartment (semi-furnished but new and modern) in a gated community around HSR with the possibility of renting all facilities for Rs 25 lakh. Meru taxis to airport were around Rs 700,” she added.
“Rs 2.5 lakh is needed in Bengaluru for a decent living”
She also said in the video: “My monthly expenses vary and depend on my improvement plan/needs and circumstances. I can manage personal expenses up to Rs 25-35 lakh (non-negotiable: fitness, good nutrition, psychiatrist) but family expenses are on a different level.”
“The minimum for a family of three to live decently in Bler is at least 2.5 lakh. I heard that the cost of living in Gurgaon and Mumbai is higher than that.”

“I have been living in Bangalore for over 20 years and have never spent even half the amount mentioned here in a month,” one comment read.
“Your expenses are definitely higher than what most Indians do here, but I’m sure the lifestyle you lead is different too,” said another user.
