An Indian-origin professional shared his experience on how authorities in the UAE handled an emergency at an airport after tensions in the region led to the disruption of flights. In a LinkedIn post, he described the organized response of officials and the support provided to stranded passengers.
According to the post, passengers were waiting at the airport for several hours for a scheduled 1pm flight to Delhi. After boarding, they were unexpectedly asked to leave the plane around 3 a.m. after reports emerged that Iran had attacked the United Arab Emirates, disrupting air travel.
“At that moment on the plane, there was uncertainty. Silent conversations. Phones lighting up with news alerts. That strange collective silence when no one quite knows what to say,” he wrote, describing the tense moment inside the plane.
However, he said that the authorities dealt with the situation quickly after the passengers disembarked. “But here’s what happened next – and this is the part worth talking about,” he wrote. “UAE got to work immediately. Within a short time of disembarkation, a designated waiting area was set up for all affected passengers. It was orderly, calm, and clear in communication.”
He said that one of the most notable steps was the immediate issuance of emergency visas to travelers who did not plan to stay in the country and did not have hotel reservations.
Highlighting the action, he wrote: “Think about that for a second. In the middle of a geopolitical crisis, with airspace closed and flights grounded – the UAE was effectively making sure that visitors who had no plan to stay, who hadn’t booked a hotel, who were just passing through – were legally covered, safe and documented. There’s no chaos, no bureaucracy. Instant humanity.”
The professional also noted that officials arranged the lounges, served food and kept passengers informed while ensuring their safety. According to him, such a situation in many countries could have left travelers confused and without clear information.
Concluding his post, he shared a personal reflection on the experience, writing: “Waiting for my flight. Safe. Grateful. And really proud to be here.”
