A Russian woman lives in India viral on social media after publishing her observations about the flagrant contradictions between the culture of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Yulia Creative, which has been based in India over the past 12 years, has shared its Instagram experiences in a leaflet entitled “Things that are normal in Indian offices but not normal abroad.”

This position has since gained a wide traction, causing a discussion about the workplace culture in India.

In thinking about her first days in the country, Yulia said she was shocked by warm and arrangements for her Indian colleagues.

“When my career in India started 12 years ago, I was surprised when my colleagues used to pay attention and ask me if I was eating breakfast, tea/coffee and lunch. It was sweet and welcome on my career.”

I also noticed some structural and behavioral differences. According to her, the employees usually left the office until the senior management left, while the work calls were dealt with late at night.

While the praise of the Indians as diligent, Yulia described the environment as “high competitive and pressure”, often puts colleagues from different sections against each other. She added that Long Methouts- Sometimes more than two hours- and an indirect communication style, such as avoiding direct rejection, formed a lot of behavior in the workplace.

“Live for work, in exchange for working for a good life,” she noticed, noting that many young professionals have the weight of the support of the entire families, not just their parents.

Yulia’s publication sparked a wave of online responses, as many Indian users agreed to evaluate it. One user wrote, “Mostly the right notes”, while another added, “As an Indian, I don’t like the culture of work. Managers are very involved in personal matters. There is no privacy. Even the holiday days cannot be used.”
