A man from the United States visited Kolkata himself in a terrifying position when a local taxi driver tried to stably. The situation escalated more when another taxi entered and a threat note.
The accident first appeared in May, when Dustin, the creator of travel content, the entire episode on YouTube participated. He came to India to explore his culture and scenery, but after landing in Kolkata, he faced a worrying meeting that he took on the video.
Wrong direction and fare conflict
In the video titled “The taxi driver in Kolkata, tried to cheat and threaten me”, Dustin claimed that he clearly informed the taxi driver about his hotel destination, which was great on Park Street Street. But the driver took it 15 km in the opposite direction to a different hotel.
“I offered you the hotel first, we agreed to that, and then moved me to the wrong hotel,” Dustin can be heard, saying to the driver.
The driver initially requested 700 rupees. When Dustin refused to pay because he was transferred to the wrong site, the driver admitted the error but he raised the fare, saying: “Well, sir, it will be 900 rupees to Park Street now.” Dustin refused, and insisted on 700 rupees, which originally agreed, which led to an argument.

Threats from another man
At this stage, another man in a red shirt and sat next to the original driver approached. He called 1000 rupees and threatened in Bengalia, “I have links with the mafia, I will drag him to a single place and break it **.” The entire exchange was arrested on the camera.
In the end, the two persuaded Dustin to take another taxi to reach Park Street. Before leaving, the man added an additional 100 rupees to “parking and gasoline”, which raised the total fare to 800 rupees. “I should have been in the hotel now, but I might be in this taxi for an hour and 30 minutes.”
In his comment, Dustin explained that he did not plan to photograph at the airport because he was tired, but he started recording after transferring him to the wrong site. “From this point forward, I will not use taxi drivers randomly from the airport, always Uber,” he wrote.
He also pointed out that “Uber is accused somewhere between 500 rupees and 600 rupees for the same road. It agreed to 700 rupees for rest, but this is very much.”
“I have spent a great time in India yet. This will not make me hate the country, it’s just something you deal with in taxis and airports in many places,” he added.
What happened next?
After the viral video, the Pithanajar police arrested the taxi driver and his partner. The arrested men were identified as Manoj Roy (52) and Alamgir Molla (34). The Suo Motu case was registered at the NSCBI airport police station, according to the authorities.
