Persian rugs are one of those decorative pieces that can instantly beautify any space. Handcrafted by artisans over months and sometimes even years, they usually feature intricate patterns, vibrant jewel tones, and delicate details that hold stories about their origin. Whether adorned with bold geometric patterns or exquisite florals in an array of shades, Persian rugs are certainly a symbol of luxury.

Having said that, did you know that Persian carpets are now used to decorate car floors? No, we do not make these claims. One entrepreneur drew attention to the hack in his latest Instagram video.

Persian carpets make cars look very luxurious

The businessman explained that someone in Canada was selling specialized Persian carpets for cars. Not only this, he is said to have earned good profits from the business. According to the video, the carpet seller “buys luxury carpets for $10, cuts them to size, sews them on rubber mats, and sells them online for $100 to $150.” The factors that drive customers to buy the carpet are that it “makes the interior of their car look expensive and unique.”

Each rug costs Rs 1,200, “including the rug, rubber base and stitching,” the entrepreneur explained. However, it is sold at a price ranging between Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000. According to the entrepreneur, individuals who plan to invest in this venture can “start with Rs 50,000 for initial stock and basic sewing setups.” He has ensured a revenue of around Rs 3 lakh with a monthly profit of Rs 2 lakh, if these mats are sold through Instagram or a personal website. In conclusion, he said, “This can work in India because car decor is not yet luxury.”

The Internet offers a mixed bag of opinions

One user found the idea “brilliant,” while another praised the “creative idea.” “This will not be a successful business in India, where they will soon get dirty for various environmental and climatic reasons,” one person pointed out the difference. “I can imagine this being full of dirt, food spilled by my kids and a lot of other things,” one person agreed. “This might work in places like Canada. In India, this design looks very ordinary and I don’t see anyone paying Rs 6,000 for it,” a disapproved note said.
