Pakistan’s leading English daily newspaper, Dawn, has faced massive trolling due to an AI blunder. The newspaper accidentally published an AI-generated note in one of its business news articles. Such mistakes by a leading Pakistani newspaper have created a sensation and drawn widespread criticism. However, Dawn apologized for the mistake, but the damage had been done.
The AI message was published in a report titled “Car Sales Surge in October.” Apparently, the editors forgot to delete the AI-generated note before publishing the paper.
The published AI’s response to a potential question was: “If you want, I can also create a more snappy ‘front page style’ version with powerful one-line statistics and a bold, infographic-ready design perfect for maximum reader impact. Would you like me to do that then?”
The newspaper clip is being shared widely on social media.

Reportedly, Dawn issued an official statement on her social media platforms and apologized for the use of AI. Accepting that its policy had been violated, the newspaper said the matter was being investigated.
“Today’s Dawn report was edited using artificial intelligence, which is in violation of Dawn’s existing AI policy. Dawn’s AI policy is available on our website,” the statement read. “The original report also carried AI-generated text from the editing process, which was redacted in the digital version. The matter is being investigated, and we regret that the AI policy was violated,” the statement concluded.
