
A stringent enforcement drive by transport authorities has sent a strong message to vehicle owners flouting rules in Mysuru in Karnataka. Officials from the Regional Transport Office (RTO) have begun cracking down on illegally modified vehicles and those operating without proper documentation, leaving many violators facing stiff penalties and vehicle confiscation. In response to growing concerns over road safety, RTO officials stationed near Bilal Circle conducted a focused operation targeting vehicles with unauthorized modifications and incomplete records. The drive, led by Officer Rajkumar, led to the seizure of multiple vehicles, including a heavily modified Mahindra Jeep, a Toyota Fortuner and Innova with unpaid taxes, as well as two school buses operating without valid fitness certificates. In a notable case, a B.Com student from Chamarajanagar, who is currently studying in Mysuru, brought an old Mahindra jeep from Punjab and extensively modified it with 33cm wide rims to improve its appearance. However, officials said such modifications threaten road safety and pose risks to other passengers. The car was seized during the operation. (News18 Kannada)

The authorities stressed that aesthetic modifications will not be tolerated at the expense of safety. They urged vehicle owners to comply with regulations, ensure timely payment of taxes when bringing vehicles from other states, and refrain from making illegal modifications. (News18 Kannada)
