A stunning natural phenomenon captured in the Philippines is now going viral online after a rare green fireball meteor appeared directly behind an erupting volcano, creating images that many users have described as “unreal” and “straight out of a movie”.

The stunning event was reportedly recorded at around 10:33pm local time on Monday by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology through its Lignon Hill IP camera. The footage shows an active volcano glowing in the dark, and moments later, a bright green meteor suddenly appears across the sky in the background.

The glowing object is believed to be a fireball meteorite, an unusually bright meteorite that becomes visible when space rocks quickly enter Earth’s atmosphere and burn up due to friction.

According to experts, the rare green color often appears due to the burning of metals such as nickel or magnesium. Although the meteor only appeared for a few seconds, the dramatic timing of the sighting immediately caught the Internet’s attention.

What made the photos even more extraordinary was the backdrop of an erupting volcano lighting up the night sky with smoke and lava activity. The combination of two rare natural events occurring together created a scene that social media users said looked more like CGI than reality.

Shortly after the footage appeared online, users flooded social media platforms with reactions. “This looks like a scene from a sci-fi disaster movie,” one user commented.

“This is a mainstream media dream come true. An erupting volcano and a streaming meteor, all in the same video.” another user commented.

Another wrote: “Nature creates better pictures than Hollywood.”

Many users were particularly amazed by the timing of the meteorite’s appearance. “What are the odds of a green meteorite passing behind an erupting volcano at the perfect moment?” Read one comment.

Others described the footage as “once in a lifetime” and “one of the wildest nature videos seen online this year.”

Another user commented: “This is a meteorite, but specifically a magnesium-rich meteorite based on a green fireball. It likely originated from our own asteroid belt.”

As the clip continues to spread widely online, the rare fireball spectacle has become one of the most talked about natural phenomenon videos on the internet, leaving viewers around the world amazed and awestruck by the unpredictability of nature.
