“Bhaiya, kal se nahi aaungi (I won’t come from tomorrow),” were the words of a domestic helper who quit her job after working for a man for four years. He turned to X to share a post, revealing that he not only gave her timely bonuses and vacations, but also made sure to increase her salary every year. But she still chose to leave work at his home for a better opportunity.

“I never deducted her salary.”

“Today, our chef aunt came home and said: ‘Bhaiya, kal se nahi aaungi’. She has worked with us for 4 years. Every year I have increased her salary by 15%. Her current salary is Rs 15,500 per month,” the man said.

“On Holi, Diwali, Rakshabandhan and Navratri, there were gifts, sarees, sweets, rewards and money. Even when she was away from home for 10 to 15 days, I never deducted her salary.”

Believing that years of goodwill and mutual respect had created a strong bond between them, he said he was surprised when she informed him of her decision to quit.

“I thought relationships built over years meant something. So I asked, ‘What’s the problem?’” “I get paid better somewhere else,” she said. “I will match it,” I replied. She smiled and said: No, brother, I already went there. You find a new cook. “Thus, a 4-year chapter ended in a 2-minute conversation,” he added.

At the end of the post, the man reflected on expectations in any type of relationship, saying: “The truth is, people don’t always leave because you treated them poorly. Sometimes they leave because they think something better is waiting for them.”

But today, I learned something. The value you place on a relationship and the value someone else places on it can be very different.”

The Internet compares the position of a chef to a corporate job

His post sparked controversy online, with some sympathizing with his situation while others asked him to compare it to a corporate workplace, where an employee leaves for better opportunities.

“Yes. Not everyone values a relationship the way you do,” one user said.

Another joked: “People do what’s best for them. Nothing personal.”

Another person commented: “If the same post had been in the context of a company employee changing jobs, everyone would have told him not to go to his old workplace again.”

“People have the right to choose what they feel is right for them. I understand your respect and appreciation for the person, but in reality, life is about moving forward. Even workplaces create attachment, but stagnation in life is not good. You may find a better cook later,” shared one individual.

Meanwhile, one person joked: “Bro, 15,500/- per month for the chef?! Submit the address, main karta hoon kam.”

One person commented: “Exploitative Indian culture is the reason why people leave. It taught you a life lesson.”
