A now-viral post on X about an expensive birthday dinner bill has gone viral after one user claimed celebrating with friends ended up wiping out his bank balance. The post, shared by the online community CountryGulshan, sparked widespread discussion about restaurant prices and fine dining culture.
According to the post, the user went out with his friends to celebrate his birthday and initially expected the trip to cost between Rs 20,000 and Rs 25,000. However, the final amount reportedly came as a huge shock.
The user shared his experience online, writing: “Today, while celebrating a birthday party with my friends, my bank account was completely emptied!”

He further explained that before the group started eating, the restaurant manager allegedly asked how many people were attending dinner. After learning that there were 16 guests, the manager estimated that the bill would be around Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000.
“But when the final bill arrived, it was Rs 56,000!” User wrote.
The restaurant also claimed that when he questioned the unusually large amount, the restaurant manager justified it by saying that the dishes ordered by the group were excellent and expensive. The user also revealed that he requested a discount on the bill, but the request was rejected.
According to the post, the manager responded by saying: “This is not a roadside dhaba where we offer discounts.”
In the end, the user paid the full amount, but ended his post by wondering if food for 16 people could realistically cost that much.

The incident quickly gained attention on social media, with many users discussing the bill amount.
“The averages are very reasonable. The sums are made up. You’re not good at math. When you’re not good at math, you can’t advance in life or in your career,” one user said.
Another commented, “Kehna kya chahte ho?? Do you have money to spend on Christmas and a parade? Or do you want free food just because ura SM influ”
Some users have questioned the accounts described in the viral post itself.
A third user wrote: “Can someone please explain to me how much this 47,000 rupees went for 🙂, by adding it up we are close to 15 lakh rupees.”
Others felt that the bill amount was expected given the size of the group and choice of restaurant.
“If you think you’re not going to spend nearly $50,000 on a fancy dinner for 16 people, you’ve never actually dined,” another user commented.
One person said: “You should check before you celebrate, there is no point in crying after the party is over.”
Today, while I was celebrating a birthday party with my friends, my bank account was completely emptied! I thought the total expenses would be around INR 20,000-25,000. But the hotel bill shocked me.

Another user turned the conversation toward financial responsibility and budgeting habits.
“If you are willing to spend Rs 25,000 on a birthday party for your friends, you must either be really rich or don’t understand the basics of personal finance. Learn finance or else you will keep crying to strangers about money on X. 💸😭” the caption read.
