Comedian Abhijit Ganguly shared an incident that happened during a recent flight to Kolkata, where a fellow passenger was so unhappy with the middle seat allotted to her that she complained to the cabin crew when people refused to swap seats with her. The account of the incident has left people online with mixed feelings.
In a post on X, Ganguly revealed how the woman, who was occupying the middle seat, kept her belongings on the aisle seat before boarding was completed. Upon seeing him, he politely asked her to remove the items so he could take his seat, but he felt that she was reacting as if he had caused her inconvenience.
“People are so funny. On today’s flight to Kolkata, a girl was sitting in the middle seat. I was in the aisle and when she arrived all her stuff was on my seat. I asked politely if she could remove her stuff. I did it as if I was causing her the most inconvenience,” he wrote.

“So Evin is annoying.”
The situation took a turn when the window seat passenger arrived. The comedian said the woman immediately asked him if he would swap seats with her, but he refused.
She then turned to Ganguly and asked him if he would exchange his aisle seat for her middle seat. He added that he also rejected the request. “I also refused because even the request had a tone of entitlement,” he said.
The woman then called a cabin crew member and complained that she did not want to sit in the middle seat between two men. She even asked the airline to arrange an alternative seat for her. The situation was eventually resolved when the passenger sitting next to the window agreed to swap seats with her.
He ended the post by saying, “Arre bhai, agar itna hai toh le liye karo dusri Seat. What in the world is this behavior that owes you everything. It’s so annoying. Now the videos are playing in full size too.” “Kya log hai yaar,” he added.
The Internet has mixed reactions to the incident
The post quickly gained attention online, with social media users discussing whether passengers should switch seats, especially if there is a woman sitting in the middle seat.
“The feeling of entitlement is so disgusting. People even ask to switch ‘paid seats’ for random reasons,” one person said.
“Funny she can afford to fly but can’t afford a pair of earbuds or headphones. Or maybe she forgot to pack because she was carrying so much stuff that she needed an extra seat to hold it,” one person commented.

Another user commented, “You should never accommodate such people. You have every right to ask her to use earphones and not disturb others.”
Meanwhile, one said: “NGL no matter her tone or attitude, her point was valid. Any woman would not want to sit between two unknown men. This was not a matter of entitlement. You could have easily switched but you also showed unnecessary arrogance. Also you are not providing any evidence just portraying her in a bad light by saying her things were on the seat and playing music loudly etc.”
