Has the washing machine itself become dirty? Learn about the easy home method for deep cleaning

Washing machine cleaning: Most people have no idea how dirty the inside of the washing machine itself is, which cleans household clothes every day. Many times we assume that due to detergent, water and constant washing, the washing machine will automatically stay clean, but the truth is completely different from this. Dust, hair, fibres, detergent residue and moisture in clothes gradually accumulate together in a thick layer of dirt inside the device. Recently, content creator Shivani Dwivedi shared a video of deep cleaning her 10-year-old washing machine.

When I opened the machine from the inside, I was surprised to see black dirt accumulated there. This video is an eye opener for people who haven’t cleaned the machine for years. The good thing is that by following the right method, you can easily clean your washing machine at home without the help of any expert.

What is the importance of cleaning the washing machine?
If your washing machine is not cleaned regularly, bacteria, fungi, and odor-causing particles begin to accumulate in it. Its effect directly affects clothing. Even after washing the clothes, a strange smell may remain in them, and sometimes even the stains are not completely removed. Apart from this, dirt accumulated inside the device also affects its performance. The drainage system may become clogged, slowing water flow and increasing the risk of the machine breaking down quickly.

First remove the lint filter
Small lint filters inside the washing machine tub trap fibres, hair and small debris from clothes. Over time, a lot of dirt accumulates in them. According to Shivani, it is very easy to remove the filter. It comes out by simply gently pressing the lock or pressing a point on the filter. After taking it out, wash it well with strong water.

Clean them with vinegar and baking soda
After cleaning the filter, spray a solution of vinegar and baking soda on it. Leave it for a few minutes and then scrub gently with an old toothbrush. This method helps remove accumulated dirt as well as reduce bacteria and odor. This home method can be very effective instead of expensive cleaners available in the market.

Most of the dirt is hidden under the spring.
Most of the dirt usually accumulates under the rotating disc at the bottom of the washing machine tub, called the pulsator. To clean it, first remove the device plug. Then carefully open the nut in the middle with the help of a screwdriver and take out the spring by pulling it upwards. Once this part appears, you will clearly see the black dirt that has accumulated over the years.

Remove dirt with high water pressure
After removing the spring, clean its bottom and surrounding areas with strong water with the help of a tube or cup. The water pressure loosens the dirt stuck deep inside, causing it to exit through the drain pipe. If necessary, you can also clean the edges with the help of a brush.
