A young woman left her job at Barclays Bank at the age of 21, even though it seemed like a dream career, saying she felt disconnected from the life she was living.

She later returned home and spent months figuring out what she really wanted
A young woman who landed a seven-figure job at Barclays Bank after graduating from Lady Shri Ram College has shared why she decided to quit at just 21 years old. Despite having a well-paying corporate job and a stable career path, she said something in her life didn’t feel right.
In an Instagram video, she shared how life looks “perfect on paper” with a good salary, a reputable company and a stable future ahead. However, she said she always felt disconnected from the life she was living and eventually decided to quit without getting another job.
I talked about leaving Barclays
The video begins with the woman introducing herself and talking about her decision. “I quit my seven-figure job at Barclays when I was 21, and I had no idea what I was doing,” she says in the clip. She explained that after graduating from LSR, she joined Barclays straight from college.

According to her, everything looked perfect from the outside. “I’ve got the college of my dreams, and the perfect job. I mean, what else do I need, right?” She said.
However, after long days of work, she began to feel disconnected from the life she was living. She added: “But to be honest, there was something in life that wasn’t happening at that time. For example, I used to come home after a very long day and sit down and think: If I do this for another five years, who will I become?”
Five difficult months followed
The woman revealed that she resigned from Barclays Bank without having another job. She then returned to Jodhpur and spent the next five months trying to figure out what she really wanted.
“So I resigned without any job waiting for me. I returned to Jodhpur for the next five months, and trust me, that was the most annoying phase of my life,” she said.
According to her, those months were filled with anxiety and constant overthinking. “I kept overthinking my decision, so what if there was a one percent chance I made the wrong decision?” She said.
She explained in a comment on the post that leaving Barclays was not because she hated the company. “Not because Barclays wasn’t good, it was amazing,” she wrote, “but because I didn’t feel like I fit in.”
She also admitted that returning home without a backup plan was risky, but deep down she believed she wanted something more out of life.
She says she later found compatibility
The woman said that this difficult stage ultimately helped her understand herself better. “That period of my life extended in ways I never expected — anxiety, risk, rebuilding, and unlearning. But somewhere in between, I found alignment,” she wrote.
She added that she is now doing work that she really enjoys and does not regret taking risks. “And trust me when I say this, I’m so glad I left because at 21 I’d rather experience it early than regret it for the rest of my life,” she said in the video.
She also mentioned that she still has a lot of things to figure out and plans to share more about her journey online.
The Internet is reacting to her story
As the video gained attention online, many users spoke about their experience and shared their own thoughts in the comments section.
“Keep growing more power to you I’m 25 and still thinking about quitting my current job and creating content full time,” one user wrote.
Another said: “You should try things at the beginning of your career but nothing is a sign of risk. Maybe you want to be influential, influenced or build something, but before it gets bad, try to explore it again otherwise it will become difficult.”
“Scary decisions usually become the best stories later,” one person commented. “Keep growing, keep shining,” one wrote. The caption also read: “Keep pushing your limits.”
