Vehicle owners enthusiastically participated in the online e-auction, resulting in bids worth thousands of rupees on several preferred numbers. How much were VIP numbers purchased?
UK08 BM 0009 was the most traded item in the e-auction, fetching the highest bid of INR 5,40,000. Apart from this, there were offers of ₹4,91,000 for UK08 BM 0001, ₹3,88,000 for UK08 BM 0007, ₹1,73,000 for UK08 BM 0008, ₹1,41,000 for UK08 BM 0002 and ₹ 91000 for UK08 BM 9000. People are also enthusiastically applying for other attractive numbers like 0005, 0006, 0004, 1111, 8888, 5555, 0101, 0099, 0077 and 0999.

Assistant Divisional Transport Officer (Administration), Haridwar, Shri Nikhil Sharma said that as soon as the new series was launched, citizens showed immense enthusiasm over the huge numbers. He said that the Ministry of Transport’s electronic auction system is completely transparent and interested citizens can obtain the registration number of their choice according to the specified procedure. He said the revenue generated from fancy numbers was an important source of income for the state government and such e-auctions would continue to be conducted regularly in the future as well.
