A foreign tour operator shared her experience of traveling on the Vande Bharat sleeper train six months after its launch, and her review has caught the attention of people online. The traveler said she expected the train to look worn out after months of daily operations.
Instead, she said she was surprised by how clean and well-maintained everything was.
I expected the train to be chaotic
Travel content creator Anusha recently posted a video on Instagram after traveling from Guwahati to Kolkata on the Kamakhya-Howrah Vande Bharat sleeper train. She had also traveled on the train when it launched in January, and wanted to know if the experience had changed six months later.
She admitted at the beginning of the video that her expectations were low. “I was quite prepared to find our flight from Guwahati to Kolkata Vande Bharat completely destroyed today,” she said. Anusha explained that this time she was traveling alone and booked the first air-conditioned compartment to see if the train maintained the standards seen during its inaugural run.
“Six months after the grand opening, I’m traveling completely alone on the train, and this time I’ve booked my first air conditioner to check if the hype is actually real or just a one-day adventure.”
She said she got tea shortly after boarding the plane before she started checking out the bus. “He offered me tea and then I went straight to check it out. I was shocked. The cabin is huge, modern and really clean even after six months.”

She liked the bathrooms too
Anusha said that the real test for her is the condition of the bathroom, because it often reflects how well the train is maintained. According to her, the bathroom was clean and had a shower area on the First AC bus.
“But the final highlight was the bathroom, and yes, our first air conditioner had an actual shower area that was surprisingly clean,” she said. She also praised the food served on the plane, saying that it tasted as good as it did on her first flight.
“Even the food hit exactly the same delicious spot as day one. Our premium train has already passed its 6-month vitality test.” The video has since received thousands of views and comments from people discussing the train’s condition.
Social media applauds the maintenance
Many users appreciated the review and said that it showed a positive side of Indian Railways. Many also pointed out that passengers have equal responsibility in keeping the trains clean.
“The Government of India is doing its best and it is us, the citizens, who do not deserve progress,” one user wrote. Another commented, “Thanks for offering the comfortable ride on Indian Railways.”
One person added: “The railways are doing their job but as passengers we have to maintain the amenities.”
Some viewers were also curious about the ride itself. One person asked: “What is the price and how many days to reach Kolkata?” Another wrote: “Thank you to all the people who traveled on that train and kept it clean.”
