Sejal Pawar has apologized for her controversial remarks about male bodies on Praneet More’s show.

Sejal Pawar, an MBBS student who made controversial remarks about male bodies during a comedy show, has been suspended for 15 days after Mumbai’s prominent King Edward Memorial Hospital launched a probe into her remarks.

Pawar was in the limelight for her comments about comparing the sizes of genital organs to male bodies while interacting with the audience during Praneet More’s show, which sparked severe criticism online.

The incident sparked strong condemnation from national medical bodies and direct intervention by law enforcement authorities. KEM Hospital administration described these statements as “unacceptable and unacceptable.”

Dr Harish Pathak, dean of KEM Hospital, said: “We are sensitive when it comes to talking about the dead because their organs can be donated for medical purposes. We have formed a two-member committee to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. Appropriate action will be taken based on the results of the investigation which are expected by the evening.”

The hospital also said Pawar had offered a written apology for her remarks, but senior doctors at the institution remained upset by the public comments. According to reports, a criminal case has been registered against Pawar under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

What is the controversy about?

The backlash stems from a group action segment during a live comedy show hosted by Praneet More, who questioned whether medical professionals were able to maintain complete seriousness during post-mortem examinations.

Pawar spoke from the audience about her experiences during anatomy training sessions, detailing how she and her colleagues would casually compare the sizes of genital organs on male cadavers, which sparked intense criticism.

The All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA) issued a sharp public statement condemning the remarks as “insensitive and disrespectful” towards the deceased and their families.

As the backlash mounted, Sejal Pawar issued a video statement accepting responsibility for her words, claiming she spoke naively. “To everyone who was disappointed or hurt by the clip, I understand what went wrong, I’m truly sorry for that, and I will never let this happen again,” she said.

Pawar’s remarks came into the limelight after another controversy involving Praneet More, after a man commented on his show about paying Rs 370 for a woman’s chicken biryani and expecting a return.
