IIM Ahmedabad Viral Video: Many teachers today often adopt new methods to make studies a little creative. One such approach has been seen at IIM Ahmedabad, one of the top management institutes in the country. This unique and new trend related way has caught the attention of social media users. Here, the professor used a film rather than a book or slides to explain topics such as statistics and research methodology to the students.
The special thing is that he explained the difficult concept of statistics in an easy way by showing a scene from Ranveer Singh’s film Dhurandhar in the classroom. The video of this unique teaching style is becoming increasingly viral on social media and people are praising the professor’s creative thinking.
Student shared classroom video
Prakhar Singh, a student of IIM Ahmedabad, shared a video of this special moment on Instagram. The video shows a scene from the movie Durandhar being shown on the projector in the classroom, while the professor explains the dialogues of the same scene by linking it to the principles of statistics. Combined with the student-written video, only at IIM Ahmedabad can a Dhurandhar scene turn into a statistics lesson. “Win Lyari, Win Pakistan” – Cluster Sampling. “Baloch gangs and Pathan gangs are two fundamentally different groups” – Class division. He said that within a few minutes, the discussion about the conflict between the two gangs that appeared in the film turned into a study of research methodology and survey design.
Cluster sampling of movie scenes explained
In the scene shown in the chapter, Ranveer Singh is seen trying to understand the Pakistani criminal network by adopting the character of Hamza. During the conversation, Uzair Baloch’s character provides information about Karachi and the power structure there. Professor Khat Win Lyari linked Pakistan’s victory from this scene to cluster sampling. This is a statistical technique by which to understand a large group, a small part or area of it is studied and then on the basis of this an inference is made about the entire group.
