Ahead of Eid al-Adha, two albino buffalo in Bangladesh that vaguely resemble two major world leaders have become popular on social media.
According to a report by The Independent, a 700-kilogram pink buffalo, named after Donald Trump because of its striking resemblance to the US president, is particularly attracting large crowds to a farm in Narayanganj near the capital, Dhaka.
“When I saw his pictures on Facebook, he looked just like Donald Trump,” one visitor was quoted as saying by Prothom Alo newspaper. “His facial structure and even his hairstyle match Trump’s.”
“Buffalo are very calm and polite by nature, which definitely doesn’t sit well with Donald Trump,” she joked.
Business Standard quoted Dia al-Din Merida, the owner of the farm, as saying that dozens of visitors come to his farm daily to take pictures of the animal, which was purchased from a livestock market about 10 months ago.
“My younger brother jokingly named him Donald Trump after he saw the hair on his head. He is very calm by nature. White buffalo are generally peaceful and do not become aggressive unless provoked,” he said.
According to The Independent, the buffalo was sold at 550 taka (£3.31) per kilogram and will be delivered to its new owner before Eid.
There is another albino buffalo named after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Narayanganj.
The Independent newspaper cited reports that the buffalo, which weighs more than 750 kilograms, displays a “fighting” stance and that the animal’s hair and eyes resemble Netanyahu’s.
The media quoted one of the managers of the SS cattle farm as saying, “Netanyahu is very naughty and has deceptive intelligence. Even when we go to feed him, he snores and tries to gore us.”
