A 5-foot-long ‘Dhaman’, the Indian rat snake, was found crawling in our brother Salman Khan’s Galaxy apartment in Mumbai. This incident caused an uproar on campus. However, this snake does not pose any danger to humans. Snakes like Daman are very important for the balance of nature and agricultural safety and this snake is also called the friend of farmers. Besides, this snake also plays an important role in maintaining ecological balance. Daman snake is also called Ghoda Pachhad in many places. Do you know why Daman is called the friend of farmers and why this snake is called Goda Patchad…

Hold the snake carefully
The police constable on duty immediately informed snake rescue expert Vicky Dubey. Vicky Dubey reached the spot and, with utmost care, safely caught the snake and took it out. No one was injured during the entire operation and the situation remained completely under control. According to the Forest, Environment and Water Department of the Bihar government, the Daman snake is beneficial for agriculture. It is also called Indian rat snake. It is a non-venomous snake common throughout India.

Daman is farmer friendly
It makes mice, frogs, lizards and small animals its prey. They are not poisonous, so they are not considered a particular threat to humans, but people are often frightened by their size and color. The daman snake is an important friend of farmers because it plays a major role in controlling the number of mice in the fields. If there is no snake like Daman, there can be significant damage to crops.

This is why it is said that the horse excels
The crawling speed of the Daman snake is very fast, which is why it is also known as Goda Patchad. Its average length ranges from 5 to 8 feet, and its weight is about 2 kilograms. It lives for 15 years on average. It is scientifically known as the mucous membrane of the lining. This snake is not venomous, but due to its agility and aggressive nature, many stories about it spread among people.

Snake is in danger because of superstition
Often people consider it poisonous and kill it. Forest and environment management enthusiasts are constantly making people aware that Daman is not harmful to humans most of the time. They can hiss when they feel threatened, but they do not have venom glands like venomous snakes. Experts say it’s important to reduce fear and superstitions toward snakes.
