A viral topic on X showcases AI-generated designs that are indistinguishable from professional work

‘It’s over for graphic designers’: Viral post featuring AI claims and images sparks professional crisis on social media
There’s a viral controversy currently tearing apart X (formerly Twitter), and striking a chord with every creative pro in the game. It all started when user @sergio_de_ennin posted a series of AI-generated posters that looked very polished, and came with a haunting four-word caption: “It’s over for graphic designers.”
The topic becomes a showcase of what the latest models can do, specifically the new version ChatGPT Image 2.0. Unlike previous releases that suffered from “noodle fingers” and vague text, these new visuals are “premium and clean.”
One of the top comments leading the conversation points to the rapid development of the technology: “That’s even GPT Image 2.0… imagine 3.0-4.0. DAMN designers should upgrade.” The sentiment is clear: If you’re not using AI tools to excel, you might be standing in the unemployment queue. Another user commented, “I’ve seen an improvement in Ai Imagining as we’ve been using it in designs since early last year. Graphics designers are going to need to step up really well! AI does all my designs.”
Despite the “doom and gloom”, some users point out the current limitations of AI. While Grok, Gemini, and Meta AI all produce great public art, they still struggle with the “personal touch.” “If you want to do this for your personal business logo, the AI might struggle… especially if you want to add your logo and image at the same time,” another user wrote. Another user added: “AI has glitches in videos, layering in photos, and synchronized computer sounds in music. Trust me, it will take another 100 years to mimic human movement.”

Some have also argued that the threat is not necessarily AI replacing humans, but that designers who use AI replace designers who do not. “I think only graphic designers who use the importance of AI tools will definitely outperform others,” one user noted, describing AI as a “superpower” and not a replacement.
