The fruit’s bizarre reaction has left social media users divided.

YouTuber Gaurav Taneja, popularly known as Flying Beast, has sparked an online debate after sharing a strange incident involving a watermelon that started foaming from the inside. The content creator posted a video clip showing the fruit boiling continuously in his kitchen, leaving his family confused and worried. The clip quickly led to online conversations, with many users discussing whether the fruit had chemicals within it or whether the reaction was caused by heat and fermentation.

According to Taneja, his wife Ritu bought watermelon from a local fruit vendor for a late-night snack. However, things took an unexpected turn the next morning when the fruit started producing foam on its own.

The watermelon started to foam

In his vlog titled ‘Tarbooz Mein Nikala Zeher (The Poison in Watermelon)’, Taneja explained that the watermelon was left outside because there was no space in the refrigerator.

He said that when he returned home after attending the puja, the fruit was still boiling. “Even after I returned from puja around 9:45 am, the watermelon was still frothing,” Taneja said. “At that time, Ritu told me that the watermelon had become foamy since morning,” he added.

The YouTuber showed unusual images in the video, where thick foam can be seen coming out of the watermelon for several hours. Since the reaction did not stop even later in the day, Taneja decided to take the fruit to the owner of the store where she had bought it.

According to him, the seller denied using any chemicals on the fruit, and explained that it was likely that the gas had formed inside the watermelon naturally.

Social media users shared their own theories

The clip quickly sparked discussions online, with many social media users trying to explain the reason for the strange reaction.

Some people fear the fruit contains harmful chemicals or pesticides, while others believe it is just internal fermentation caused by heat.

“Foamy watermelon ferments quickly and rots internally, often due to high heat, damage, or bacterial infection, and should never be eaten,” one user wrote.

Another commented: “This is internal fermentation caused by bacteria. In hot weather, bacteria break down the sugar and cause this fermentation.”

One person also shared a similar experience and wrote, “Sir, the same thing happened to me too. I also kept watermelon outside the refrigerator at night, and due to the high temperature in North India, there is no hot watermelon. Always store it inside the refrigerator, and consume it within a day or two.”

Another comment said: “It was kept at a high temperature for a very long time. Always store the fruit in the fridge. Bacterial growth occurred inside the fruit, causing it to ferment from the inside, which is why there was a buildup of gases.”
